A New Life was the project for the Korean Pavilion in the Venice Biennale 2003, inspired by the fact that there was an entrance to a back garden of the Pavilion, of which existence had been forgotten since it had been covered up by the wall. The project was thus started by finding and revealing the hidden aspect of the space. For this exhibition, Chung adopted a method that incorporates the condition of the exhibition space into the center of a work, because she felt it difficult to install her works within the given architectural format and with the condition of the interior of the Korean Pavilion at the time. A New Life and A new Pillar were created as a way of overcoming such a problem. The hidden entrance was exposed, and a three-wheeled motorcycle was installed to extend the exhibition space to the space in the back of the venue. An object in a figure of a house with a road on top of it was installed in the luggage compartment of the motorcycle, which is a useless as a means of transportation in Venice. It was a kind of combination that was slightly disjointed from the reality, emphasizing the revived entrance/exit.
